He’s a student. Clever, which means he can get away with not being particularly studious. Well-spoken ( with a non-Northern accent – London or Southern England). Funny, but very laid back. Has the carefree attitude that fits with his age, but also his height — he doesn’t have to try and make an impression. He’s not been out with many people in his life. His unhurried physical presence makes it seem as though he’s thought things through and is a step ahead, but this is deceptive.

Not a teenage racer. He’s old enough for Laura to imagine him having a partner.
This is a performance that needs to feel very real, and our actor has to do it all through the eyes. It’s a very difficult and totally key role. I’d want to work really closely with an actor to research and rehearse it. No lines, very important role.

The follower, always trying to amuse Friend One. Asian.
